Re: Whats your favourite cardigan?
Blimey Cough... never knew that...

The cardigan was named after James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan, a British Army major general who led the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War. It is modelled after the knitted wool waistcoat that British officers supposedly wore during the war. The legend of the event and the fame that Lord Cardigan achieved after the war led to the rise of the garment's popularity – supposedly, Brudenell invented the cardigan after noticing that the tails of his coat had accidentally been burnt off in a fireplace.

Cardigan was infamous for the BLACK BOTTLE incident among having cherry coloured britches brought in for teh whole of his Hussar regiment... sounded a bit of a HELMET

Re: Whats your favourite cardigan?
Couldn't afford top fashion on an apprentice wage so I wore army boots instead of Doc Martens, no sta-prest but I bought cheapo version, which needed ironing after one wear, did have genuine Brutus shirts though, and yes I looked a proper helmet.

Nah not really it was fine material and a slim fit, it went well with the stay press and brogues.

Cough I doubt Hoddeston was ever the centre of fashion though was it? 🤣

I remember having a Fred Perry cardigan in grey that went very well with my White & navy/lt blue trim Polo shirt.

I was about 12/13 and just starting to get into my clobber, this was a good start for me.

Re: Whats your favourite cardigan?
Cardigan-wearing is part of a syndrome. One of its first signs is allowing the Trouble to purchase one’s apparel on a regular basis. You’ll be living in the shed with a train set soon.

I’ve never owned a cardigan and never plan to. The wife has just purchased two wonderful French Connection hoodies for me.

Black and grey in case you’re interested.
